February 2011 Hello All! Hopefully winter is treating you better than it's treating NYC!  Winter has been brutal thus far with the massive amount of snow (almost 60 inches thus far...with more on the way!!!) and cold temperatures.  We've made some changes to our email provider (although our email address has not changed...it is still adam@focusnewyork.org).  I wanted to send out a test email as well as a brief update.  Please continue to pray for our small group and pray for people to get saved.  We've had several good opportunities to share the gospel with our friends and neighbors during the snow (talking as we shovel our houses/cars/sidewalks).  The curriculum that I wrote for Beacon Bible Institute has been translated into Spanish and is now in the hands of the teachers.  They will leave sometime in March to teach the first semester of classes.  Please pray that God uses this material to train men to pastor national churches and start new ones! Snow in NYC

Here is a picture of the recent snowfall and the drifts it created. That is mr standing by our van!

The Difference One Half Inch Makes

Last Friday night Emily and I loaded into the van for our Friday night ritual...girl scouts. If you've paid any attention to the news at all, you'll know that we've had a very snowy winter up here so far. After trekking through 8 or 9 inches of snow, we finally made it down the block to our van. When I started the van, a light on the dashboard was on. Not being a particularly good mechanic...I was kinda upset at the prospect of something being wrong. I grabbed the owners manual and quickly learned that one of my tires was low. I know how to change a tire, but it would have been particularly difficult to do so with all the snow on the ground...so I went to a local shop to have them inspect it. They found a small nail in the tread of the tire only 1/2 inch from the sidewall. The total cost to patch was $7 and it took about 15 minutes. 1/2 inch saved us $140. Not an exciting story, but it is something that we felt like sharing.

BTW, the news stations are telling us that we will hit with another "substantial" amount of snow this Tues/Wed. Yeah for us!!!

We Got One!

We rented a house today here in Queens!! I visited many places and God directed us to the perfect place for us! Please pray for the final details on Thursday and Friday...I will try to post some pics later.

Also, congrats to the Yankees!!! A world championship and a new house on the same day? Gotta love it!
